Earlier on Friday, Gujarat High Court issued a notice to Gujarat government following Patidar leader Hardik Patel's application against the lower court's decision rejecting his discharge application in a sedition case filed against him.
Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel on Friday filed an application against a decision of a Sessions Court in Ahm-edabad, which rejected his discharge application in the case. A further hearing is now scheduled for May 8.
Crime Branch of Ahm-edabad police had filed a sedition case against Patel and others after his Patidaar Rally in Ahmedabad in August 2015. Patel has been demanding reservation quota for Pati-dars in education institutes and government agencies. Violence had erupted in the evening after the rally.
Patel has been charged with inciting violence which led to the death of dozen-odd Patidar youths in the state.
Patel had then filed a discharge application in the city Sessions Court, which had in February early this year rejected the plea.
