Lt Governor Najeeb Jung felicitates armed forces personnel on flag day

The Lt Governor also released a Flag Day Brochure of the Rajya Sainik Board and urged everyone to contribute generously to the cause of rehabilitation and welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.

Lt Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday felicitated armed forces personnel here on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day.

Ten 10 gallantry awardees and 19 Distinguished Service medal winners were honoured at the function which also saw the Lt Governor felicitating and extending ex gratia amounts to Manju, the wife of late GDSM Sandeep Yadav, and his father Birender Singh.

Sandeep was martyred during a cordon and search operation in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on August 15, 2008.

"The Armed Forces of India have resolutely upheld the tradition of service before self and made us stand proud as citizens of this great nation. The Armed Forces personnel have always made immense personal sacrifices while discharging their duties," Jung said at the function.

The Lt Governor also released a Flag Day Brochure of the Rajya Sainik Board and urged everyone to contribute generously to the cause of rehabilitation and welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. The function held at Raj Niwas was also attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and senior officers of army, navy, air force and Delhi government.

Armed Forces Flag Day is observed on December 7 every year to honour the martyrs and men in uniform who valiantly safeguard the nation's sovereignty and integrity.
