LS Speaker warns BJP leader for using mobile in House, Opposition not happy

As Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Wednesday let off ruling BJP MP Anurag Thakur with a warning not to repeat mobile videography in the House, the Opposition cried foul, calling it a too lenient ruling. The Speaker adjourned the House when the Opposition created a pandemonium after Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge protested for pardon to Thakur for the same crime for which Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwant Mann was suspended for two sessions.

Mann also objected to Thakur filming the Parliamentary proceedings, when the Congress MPs were creating ruckus. The Speaker noted that perhaps it did not come under her attention, but Thakur has committed indiscipline if he used his mobile. If so, he must apologise.

While apologising though not admitting to filming, Thakur talked of the ugly scene of the agitating Congress MPs throwing paper balls at the Speaker and said, "While in Opposition, we also raised slogans on matters like 2G and other scams, but not like this." He said as the House proceedings are telecast live there is no need for filming it.

Kharge asked when Thakur could be pardoned, why was the Speaker not revoking suspension of six Congress MPs. After that an Opposition chaos broke out, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for the second time on Wednesday. The first time the proceedings were adjourned was when Sushma Swaraj said if the commotion was not stopped she will not comment on 39 Indians who are missing at Mosul in Iraq since ISIS abducted them in June 14, 2014. The Opposition yielded only after the adjournment.
