Lok Sabha Elections 2014: Brisk balloting of about 10% in Puducherry till 9 am

People queued at polling stations on Thursday to vote for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Puducherry.

Officials said around 10% of the electorate voted till 9 am and the process was running smoothly.

As many as 30 candidates are in the fray in the union territory, which is also a former French colony.

A total of 901,357 voters, including 469,128 women, are eligible to exercise their franchise.

Congress candidate V. Narayanasamy was one of the early voters in Puducherry.

In 2009 general elections, the voter turnout was 79.85%.
