In a neck-and-neck electoral race, ruling BJP won 1,443 out of the total of 3,351 wards while opposition parties including Congress and Independents won 1,908 wards in the Rajasthan civic body polls, results for which were announced today.
The 129 civic bodies in the state had gone to polls on August 17.
In the final tally of results, out of 3,351 wards in the civic bodies including the Ajmer Municipal Corporation, BJP won 1,443 wards, Congress 1,164, Independents 703, NCP 19, BSP 16, CPI 5 and CPM one ward, according a Rajasthan State Election Commission spokesman here.

1,443 | 1,164 | 703 | 19 | 16 | 5 | 1 |
Rajasthan Municipal-wise Party-wise results
Buoyed by the victory in civic polls in Rajasthan, ruling BJP on Thursday claimed it would form the board in more than 80 of the 129 local bodies whereas it managed to win clear majority in 66.
State BJP President Ashok Parnami said, "BJP would have board in at least 80 civic bodies including Ajmer Municipal Corporation, and this figure could go up to 100 with support of Independents." "Many of the Independents have given their consent to elect BJP chairmen and deputy-chairmen whose elections would be held August 21 and 22, respectively," Parnami said. Independents were in a majority in 17 civic bodies while there was tie between BJP and Congress in 10 more boards.
The election of the chairman and deputy-chairman would be held based on party's core committee recommendations in which elected councillors would vote, he said.
After sweeping the Rajasthan Municipal polls on Thursday, BJP has now taken the opportunity to hit back at Congress.
Congress leading other opposition parties had effected a Parliament logjam over Vasundhara Raje-Lalit Modi controversy and the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh. Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today added salt to the party's wounds over its Madhya Pradesh poll civic and Rajasthan municipal polls outcome.
