Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on two-day visit to UAE, on Monday interacted with the investors in UAE and said that India is a land of many opportunities.  Addressing investors meet, Modi said, "India is a land of many opportunities. 125 crore people of India are not a market, but they are a source of great strength."

Stating that UAE's power and India's potential can make the dream of an Asian Century a reality, Modi added, "Infrastructure development and real estate offer tremendous opportunities for UAE businesses in India. We have got legacy problems; priority to kickstart things that were stalled due to indecisiveness, lethargy of past governments." 

Modi also said that there is an immediate potential for US$ 1 trillion investment in India and country has got a decisive and stable government.

He addressed a crowd of at least 50,000 made up of Indian diaspora and spoke about the SAARC, UAE-India bilateral talks, terrorism, and India's help for its migrants.

PM Modi addresses Indian diaspora at Dubai Cricket Stadium

At least 50,000 Indians have registered for Modi's public reception. Indian residents in Dubai said that they were eagerly awaiting Modi's visit to the city. Several Indians living in Ajman, Umm Al Quwaiin and Ras Al Khaimah said that they drove to Dubai to attend the event despite it being a working day.

- Counsellor camps for Indian workers every month or too to address their problems

- E-migrate portal for Indians to make their migration technicalities easier. Have asked to fix problems with the portal in 30 days.

-If you have complaints to give to the embassy, we have launched a platform called Madad that will help redress your grievance

- Our progressed has energised Indian community abroad

-PM speak sabout Pradhan Mantri Bima Suraksha Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Yojna. Asks audience to present their sister with Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Yojna for Raksha Bandhan. 

- Promise that  electricity in every village of India in 5 years

- Will launch a satellite that will help SAARC nations. It will help farmer, fishermen, education and common man of the nations

-India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh have signed a pact for building connectivity

- SAARC nations has started a new process. Before the nations would only fight, sometimes against India. But now they have come together. Some people have problems when we progress, but that should not deter our efforts

- We sent water to Maldives when the country was out of water supply though air, steam. Afghanistan has been facing issues since a long time, We have always been by their side. We all have seen Kabuliwala which brings nostalgia to our minds. We must co-operate with our neighbours and develop together. 

-It takes 70 minutes to reach Nepal. But govt of India reached out to the country only after so many years

- If Nepal is suffering, we too suffer. In Nepal's happiness, lies our happiness. Indians rushed to Nepal when it was in need and continue to do so.  

- Have a government which is visible and available all the time

Only through dialogue can we solve issues with our neighbours

- "Place faith in me', I said to Bangladesh's Sheikh Hasina. 'Faith is all I have,' she replied. On August 1, 2015, The Land Boundary Agreement was done. We have defined the border with Bangladesh for the first time since Independence.

- Nagaland was dealing with insurgency for a long time, recently a treaty was signed to ensure peace in North-eastern region. Solution for any situation is through dialogue.

- United Nations not been able to define terrorism and which country should be declared as "terrorist state"

-There are those nations believe in terrorism and those who believe in humanity. Those nations who support later must unite. There is no good or bad Taliban, good or bad terrorism. You are either with terrorism or with humanity.

- Terrorism has no boundaries. There was a blast in Bangkok that killed many innocents today

- We are asking the world to come and 'Make in India'...there are many opportunities. There is 48% growth in FDI.

- IMF, Moody, World Bank, all have unanimously that among leading countries India is the fastest growing one

- A third person feels proud when he hears about India, that's due to work of 1.25 crore of Indians. They all elected a majority government on May 2014.

- Thank UAE for support for our bid for UNSC permanent seat. The United Nations which has been aiding humanity post World War 2 cannot understand the nature of terrorism. 

- Those who indulge in terror must be punished and this is the message that has resonated from here today. 

- We made a joint statement against terrorism without resorting to harsh words. The message will be clear to those it's intended for, 'samajhne wale samajh jayengeakalmand ko ishaara kaafi hai' 

- Crown Prince has announced that UAE will invest Rs 4.50 crores in India. It is because of India's changing perception that such interest and trust in the country can be seen

- Forged relation based on a foundation based on mutual trust with UAE

- In a day when communalism is at its peak, the decision to build a temple for Indians in Abu Dhabi by Crown Prince is a huge one. I request everyone to thank and give standing ovation to the Crown Prince.

- His Highness Crown Prince showed a lot of affection. Crown Prince was present with all his five brothers at the airport to receive me. But this affection is not for me, but for the change in the image of India. The respect showed to me is for India's changing perception.

-But it took 34 years for an Indian PM to come here

-Every year more than 700 flights come here. If there such a great number of planes come to a country, it is this nation.

- People from Kerala are in UAE large numbers. And I am specially talking about them due to the New Year festival today.

- I wish every one here happy Independence Day 

-  NRIs had overwhelmingly responded to Atal Bihari Vajpayee's call for contributions the world imposed sanctions on India in the wake of nuclear tests 1998

- Dubai is not just 'mini India' but a 'mini world'. People from across the world live here. Even those from the coldest region come in the country despite hot temperature.

- Entire Dubai cheered when Lok Sabha elections results were announced

- I can see a 'mini India' in fromt of me. I salute all Indians who have come from every corner of UAE. You are among those who are earning livelihood here for 15-20 years and continue to make India proud through your coonduct.

On whether PM Modi raised the issue of bringing back Dawood Ibrahim to India, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar said that only larger issues on terrorism were discussed. "There was a larger discussion on trends which are obviously negative what are seen as sources of instability for both countries and for the region. High level visits are used for policy level discussions," he said.

UAE to raise India investments to Rs 5 lakh crore

To bolster economic ties, the UAE on Monday agreed to enhance its investments in India to $75 billion (about Rs 5 lakh crore) including through a dedicated infrastructure fund, while the two nations will also raise bilateral trade by 60% in the next five years. The two countries also agreed for strategic partnership in the energy sector, including through UAE's participation in petroleum sectors in India and tie-ups in the third countries.

UAE supports India's bid for permanent UNSC seat

Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar on Monday issued the joint statement by India and UAE. Counter-terrorism centred the talks in both countries. With the looming threat of Islamic State invading further into West Asia and the group marking India too as a threat recently  it has been perceived that the counter-terrorism will be a major issue in the bilateral talks. "The two nations also agreed on enhance cooperation in counter terrorism operations, intelligence sharing as well as cooperate on strengthening maritime security in Gulf and Indian Ocean region," he said

Jaishankar also said that UAE will support India’s candidature for permanent membership of UN Security Council.

Regarding trade and investment, he said, "There was a recognition that india today is a new frontier of investment. It was agreed that they would set up UAE-India infrastructure investment fund with a target of $75 billion ."

Congress slams PM Modi for targeting previous governments on foreign soil

Modi, while addressing business leaders of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Masdar City of the Gulf country, said his government has got some problems in legacy and his immediate priority would be to kickstart the things which were stalled by the "indecisiveness and lethargy" of the past governments.

"I have got some problems in legacy. I cannot take only the good points and leave aside the problems... Some things were stalled due to the indecisiveness and lethargy of the governments (in the last)... It is my priority to kickstart those things," he said.

Congress spokesman Sanjay Jha tweeted, "It is abominable that PM Modi continues his pathetic lowbrow jibes at opposition party when abroad. A huge embarrassment" 

"Prime Minister should have maintained dignity of the high office he holds. There is no problem if he targets previous governments when he is in the country. But he should have refrained from doing so on foreign soil", party spokesman Meem Afzal said. Afzal said that it was not proper for Modi to rake up domestic politics abroad despite repeated uproar by the opposition for his earlier such actions.

UAE allots land for building first temple in Abu Dhabi

The UAE on Sunday decided to allot land for building a temple here, the first in the Emirati capital as Prime Minister Narendra Modi today began his two-day visit to the strategic Gulf nation. Modi thanked the UAE leadership for this "landmark" decision.

While there are two temples in Dubai, one of Lord Shiva and another of Krishna, there is none in Abu Dhabi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday began his two-day trip to the UAE by visiting the historic Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque, the world's third largest. 

After his arrival, Modi, on first public engagement here, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a key place of worship in the UAE and known as a masterpiece of Islamic architecture. The mosque is third largest in the world after the ones in Mecca and Madina in Saudi Arabia. It is named after the founder and first President of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
