A video uploaded by Lashkar affiliate Jamaat-ud-Dawah shows Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed leading prayers for the three terrorists who were killed by the Indian Army in Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir, recently.

In the weekly Friday prayers, traditionally led by Saeed at Qadsiya masjid in Lahore, where JuD and LeT have their headquarters, he eulogised the three militants.

Saeed is also seen making a speech against the background of moving images, like smoke billowing from the Entrepreunership Development Institute (EDI) building in Pampore, where the terrorists were holed up, scenes from the conflict between military personnel, Kashmiri protestors and even the Indian Parliament.

Commending the "honourable young men and women of Islam in the battlegrounds of jihad in Kashmir", Saeed says: "Last week, there was an impressive attack in Kashmir. The fight continued for three days. There were three mujahideen against thousands of Indian Army personnel.''

He said that the funeral prayers were held in Pakistan following a request by the Hurriyat and Dukhtaran-e-Millat's Asiya Andrabi to read eulogies for the "martyrs" in Kashmir.

Indian security agencies believe that the Pampore attack is the handiwork of LeT. However, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Yet, JuD leaders have been supporting the attack on social media platforms. Saeed's endorsement of the Pampore militants strongly asserts that the attack on Indian armed forces was carried out by the LeT. Both Lashkar and its charitable organisational front Jamaat are banned by the UN Security Council as entities of al-Qaeda.

On February 20, militants led siege to the EDI building and the fight with security agencies lasted for more than 48 hours.

On the second day, as the encounter continued, local residents started pelting stones on military personnel cordoning the area and mosques in the vicinity blared songs hailing the mujahideen.

Saeed said this scene was being seen after many years and shows the faith of Kashmiri population in the acts of mujaheeds. Recently LeT's Kashmir chief Mehmood Shah, in a statement to local news agencies, said that the attack was carried out to avenge the death of two young civilians – Shaista Hameed and Danish Farooq Mir--in Pulwama earlier this month when security forces opened fire on a mob that was protesting against the killing of a local militant in Kakpora village. Saeed reiterated that the mujahideens took revenge for the killing of their sister Shaista.

In the video, Saeed also talks about how the Pampore attack has shown that these jihadis are on the right path. "The United States and India conspired to support new militant groups in Pakistan, including the Islamic State (ISIS), so that people will join these groups. But the sacrifice of mujahideens in Kashmir struck down this conspiracy to divert militants from jihad in Kashmir.''

LeT supports al Qaeda and opposes IS.
