Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Range) on Tuesday said that the attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir's Anantnag district was carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The attack was masterminded by Pakistan terrorist Ismail, IG Muneer Khan told ANI.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a high-level meeting to review the situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the killing of Amarnath pilgrims by terrorists.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, top officials of the home ministry, intelligence agencies and central paramilitary forces attended the meeting.

A high-level central team led by Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir will also visit Jammu and Kashmir to assess the security of the pilgrimage to the high altitude cave shrine located in the Himalayas.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has said the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Anantnag is a "blot on all Muslims and Kashmiris".

While visiting the injured in a hospital in Anantnag, she said the head of every Kashmiri hangs in shame over the incident.

Yesterday, a group of terrorists opened fire at a bus carrying pilgrims in the Anantnag district. Reportedly, the bus was neither a part of a convoy nor registered with the shrine board.
