An hour after ex-IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, now embroiled in a visa controversy involving External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, claimed that he was about to make a big expose, Modi's lawyer Mehmood Abdi held a press conference.

Abdi slammed media reports that Modi had been issued a blue corner notice, claiming the notice was fabricated, planted by 'Modi's friends in BCCI'. Abdi questioned the need for a true blue corner notice when Modi's address was 'known to everyone'.

"Lalit Modi is not a fugitive. He is not an offender. Which court has declared him an offender?" Abdi railed.

Abdi further claimed that Modi had been targeted by security agencies after he broke the issue of sweat equity owned by Sunanda Pushkar, late wife of Shashi Tharoor, in the IPL.

Lalit Modi's lawyer castigated the notion that Modi's wife was not ill with cancer. He said she had been ill for 17 years, and demanded that the media check medical advice provided to Modi's wife.

Abdi claimed that Modi had been in touch with Enforcement Directorate officials as well as the Mumbai Police ever since he moved to London.

Taking potshots at the Congress, Abdi said' "Those who are talking of impropriety should introspect. The UPA government hounded him here and in the UK."

Bluntly throwing his weight behind the BJP, Abdi claimed that the issue was a 'political jamboree' which was being abused to 'destabilise a popular government which has had no scams till now'.

Abdi also defended Modi's request to British MP Keith Vaz on securing admission for Sushma Swaraj's nephew in Sussex University, rubbishing it as an inconsequential detail.
