Kolkata: Main accused in 2014 Khagragrah blasts remanded in NIA custody for 14 days

Officials of Special Task Force (STF) arrested Borhan Sk, the prime accused in Khagragarh blast on Thursday night from BB Ganguly Street in central Kolkata.

He was produced before a city sessions court on Friday that remanded him in NIA custody for 10 days.  The court also turned down the NIA’s plea of interrogating him for 14 days.

 NIA lawyer Shyamal Ghosh said that Borhan had been on the run for a long time and had been to Bangladesh multiple times during this period. “He needs to be interrogated to establish his link with JMB,” he said. A resident of Mangalkot in Burdwan, 30-year-old Borhan had a reward of Rs 3 lakh on his head.

On October 2, 2014, two persons were killed in a blast at Khagragarh in Burdwan district of Bengal. Later NIA took over the investigation and claimed that it was only a part of a terror network which was spread across several districts of the state
