A defiant Andhra Pradesh chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has invited his loyalist ministers and legislators for a meeting on Wednesday to formally communicate his decision to quit, according to state social welfare minister Pitani Satyanarayana. "The chief minister will address a press conference at 10.45 am and then proceed to Raj Bhavan to hand over his resignation to governor ESL Narasimhan," the minister said.
Meanwhile, Union HRD minister of state D Purandeswari resigned from Congress and the cabinet along with her husband D Cenkateswar Rao who resigned as MLA and from the Congress too.
State ministers who resigned include Ganta Srinivas Rao, Erasu Pratap Reddy, TG Venkatesh
Besides, MLAs UV Ramanamurthy Raju, Avanti Srinivas and Chintalapudi Venkataramaiah too quit.
Meanwhile, Seemandhra MP L Rajagopal, who had created a storm by splashing pepper spray in Lok Sabha, on Tuesday resigned from parliament and announced quitting politics, saying he was "hurt" as Telugu people have been divided following the passage of Telangan bill in Lok Sabha.
