Kidnapped youth rescued in Malda

A young man who was kidnapped more than a week ago from English Bazar in Malda was rescued from a place in Jharkhand, the police said today.

Ashis Mondal was kidnapped from Mohojampur village when he dropped his school teacher mother at a primary school on 14 March. His family members later received ransom call from the kidnappers.

He was rescued from Jharkhand last night during a joint raid with the police of the neighbouring state, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Yadav said.

Mondal has passed MA and was looking for job, was well at the time of his rescue, the police said.

One kidnapper was arrested and the gang was detected, Yadav said.
