Khalistan militant Harminder Singh Mintoo tells Delhi police he has 2 ISI handlers

He told the Delhi police that he was paid Rs 25,000 by the handlers via a common contact after they learnt about the plan to escape.

Khalistan Liberation Force chief Harminder Singh Mintoo who was caught by the Delhi police after his escape from Nabha jail has reportedly told the Delhi police that he received instructions from ISI, the Pakistan spy agency. 

As per The Hindustan Times, the 49-year-old militant also revealed the names of the two alleged ISI handlers. He also said that one of the ISI handler was from Lahore in Pakistan and the other possibly from Germany, which was supposed to be his and other escaped prisoners final destination before they were caught. 

Mintoo reportedly told his handlers about the escape plan following which he was given Rs 25,000 through a common contact.

Police is yet to verify his claims about having ISI handlers to make sure he is not misleading them.

As per PTI report, he has also said that he was in touch with terror groups in Pakistan, the Punjab police had said. "Mintoo was in touch with associates of terror groups in Pakistan," Punjab Director General of Police Suresh Arora. The dreaded terrorist would be subject to "intensive interrogation" when he would be brought from Delhi, the DGP said.

In a sensational jailbreak, Mintoo escaped on Sunday along with five other prisoners after armed men in police uniform stormed the high-security Nabha prison in Patiala. He was nabbed from Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi. 

Mintoo  escaped along with five other prisoners in a sensational jailbreak after armed men in police uniform tricked the sentries into opening the gates of the jail in Patiala, nearly 200 km from here, and bolted out with the inmates while firing a hail of bullets. 

Officials said efforts are on to nab the other prisoners who managed to flee. 

Mintoo was arrested by Punjab Police after he was deported from Thailand in November 2014. He was wanted in ten terror cases.  The KLF chief was brought to India along with his key aide Gurpeet Singh 'Gopi' after Punjab Police, in coordination with central agencies, traced them in Thailand, a senior police official said. 

Among the escapees was another terrorist Kashmira Singh, according to Punjab police chief Suresh Arora.
