Kerala:19-year-old nursing student gangraped in autorickshaw

In an another horrific incident reported from Kerala, a 19-year-old nursing student was on Tuesday gangraped in Thiruvananthapuram district of the state.

The incident took place late in the evening in Varkala area.

According to The Hindu, the victim was taken to Kollam by the autorickshaw driver and his friends, where she was allegedly raped.

The victim who is a resident of Thiruvananthapuram, belongs to a scheduled caste and is a student of private nursing college. 

The victim has named two of her attackers as Sujith, 25, and Shyju, 24, reported NDTV.

Police said Shyju, an autorickshaw driver, was friend of the victim.

The girl, who was admitted to a hospital in Varkala, has been shifted to SUT Hospital on Tuesday night. She is currently traumatised and has suffered bouts of fits. "We have clear leads and the accused will be arrested soon,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police R. Chandrasekhar .

Police have registered a case against the autorickshaw driver and three of his accomplices.
