The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir police is all set to submit in the trial court in Pathankot a new medical opinion which suggests that the high doses of sedatives of Clonazepam fed to the eight-year-old Kathua rape victim could have sent her into shock or coma.

The Crime Branch had sought a fresh medical opinion about the effects of Epitril 0.5 mg tablets and 'mannar' candies (locally made cannabis) administered to the victim during captivity.

Accordingly the samples of viscera were sent to forensic laboratory to find out the effects of the sedatives and cannabis. After analysis, the doctors have concluded that sedative tablets containing Clonazepam given to the Tribal nomad girl could have pushed her into a state of shock or coma.

The doctors, however, were unable to give any conclusion about the effects of the joint use of 'mannar' candies along with Clonazapem saying it was difficult to comment on the effect its co-administration.

On January 4, 2018, accused Sanji Ram Maternal uncle provoked juvenile to take revenge from the Bakarwals who had earlier beaten him," read the charge-sheet.
