The Congress party which has extended 'unconditional' support to Janata Dal (S) will get 22 ministry portfolios in HD Kumaraswamy’s Cabinet.

Senior Congress leader G Parameshwara will be the Deputy Chief Minister, whereas Ramesh Kumar will be the Speaker.

The development comes after Chief-Minister designate HD Kumaraswamy met UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress Chief  Rahul Gandhi in the national capital on Monday.

"Congress-JDS leaders met and discussed about the cabinet formation. Out of 34 ministries, 22 ministries will go with Congress Party and 12 ministries, including CM post will be with JDS. Portfolio allocation to be decided after floor test," said Congress leader KC Venugopal.

Kumaraswamy will take oath on Wednesday, while the rest will be sworn in after the floor test on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Kumaraswamy clarified that there were no differences between the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular), however, he acknowledged that running the Congress-JD(S) coalition government over the next five years will be a "big challenge" for him.

"This is a big challenge in my life. I'm not expecting that I will be able to fulfil my responsibilities as chief minister easily."

After the fall of the three-day-old BJP government on May19, Governor Vajubhai Vala had invited Kumaraswamy, the leader of the Congress-JD(S) alliance, to form the government.
