Karnataka bandh: Pro Kannada groups to take out rally in Bengaluru

Normal life was affected in Bengaluru on Saturday due to the bandh call given by pro Kannada organisations demanding that the Central Government implement Kalasa-Banduri project for the benefit of the North Karnataka region.

Many shops and business establishments, educational institutions, cinema theaters were closed due to the bandh. 

With KSRTC and BMTC buses and majority of taxis and autorickshaws off the road, commuters are finding it tough to reach their destinations.

Activists of various Kannada organisations gathered at Town Hall to take out a rally to the Freedom Park. The rally was supposed to start at 10 am but delayed.

Meanwhile, Police taken one of the activists into custody for damaging a private bus.

Sandeep Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru Central, said two people were detained for damaging private buses. "We have beefed up security to prevent any untoward incidents during the bandh in Bengaluru," Sandeep Patil said.
