“It was victory of poor and farmers and defeat of divisive forces, who were out to divide the country and its people on caste and communal lines,” reacted Yadav while celebrating victory of party candidate Naim-ul-Hasan on Noorpur Assembly seat and joint opposition supported RLD candidate Tabassum Hasan on Kairana Lok Sabha seat.
“It is the beginning of end for the arrogant BJP and (PM) Modi. A united Opposition has given a clear message to country that together they can derail the BJP plan to return to the power in 2019,” yadav said hinting that he will work to strengthen the non-BJP front at the national level.
The SP Chief said that victory in Kairana and Noorpur was an indication to political situation taking a positive turn to stop the BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Yadav ridiculed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath by saying that he did not go to Kairana and Noorpur for campaigning after the Chief Minister threw up a challenge to him to campaign there.
“Fear had really gripped me after his statement and did not go there for campaigning even for a single day,” quipped he.
Yadav thanked leaders of all coalition partners for putting up a united front in defeating the communal forces.
“Ye Jinnah ke upar ganna ki jeet hain (It was a victory of Jinnah over sugarcane),” reacted the RLD national Vice-President Jayanat Choudhary. He said that victory of united Opposition has set the tone for 2019 Lok Sabha countdown to take on the BJP with all its might.
