Security agencies at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport had a hard time when Jammu & Kashmir governor NN Vohra reported his baggage missing after arriving in the capital last Friday. A few hours of scramble later, intelligence units tracked the bag, mistakenly picked by another passenger who was carrying a similar looking one.
According to CISF sources, the incident happened around 12.35 pm on March 9, when Vohra arrived by GoAir's G8-205 at the Delhi airport from Jammu. When his wait at the baggage reclaim belt grew uncomfortably longer, the governor alerted the airlines authorities.
"Vohar was at luggage belt no.2. When his bag was not found, an alert was issued and a thorough search was carried out. CCTV footage of the baggage reclaim area revealed that another man who was travelling with a similar looking bag had mistakenly picked up Vohra's bag and had left the airport. He was then contacted on the phone. He returned the bag," a senior officer said.
