J&K brand to play barista in Kenya

Coffeee 9 has become the first J&K-based chain to hit the global market with its first café at Voi, Kenya.  A venture of RP9 Hospitality LLP, Coffeee 9 is one of the youngest brand of restive Jammu and Kashmir that has now an international presence.

 “We launched Coffeee 9 only last year and so far we have established three cafes in Jammu. The café in Kenya is our fourth venture. We are also in talks with people in Chandigarh and Gujarat to extend our operations across the country,” Rahil Gupta, Managing Director of RP9 Hospitality LLP, told dna.

A 27 year old first-generation entrepreneur, Rahil focused on to create his own brand with strong J&K touch after completing his engineering and MBA from Ahmedabad. Rahil was also nominated for the entrepreneur award by IBSAA for bringing on the ventures like Coffeee 9.

Coffeee 9 is eyeing 500 cafes across the world in next 10 years in a bid to make it an international brand to reckon with. “We are planning to have 400 cafes in Indian and another 100 across the globe. We are eyeing 50 countries where we shall be having presence in next 10 years”, said Rahil.

To start with the Coffeee 9 is opening outlets in Tanzania and South Africa. “We are in talks with people for franchise in Tanzania and south Africa. It should take us another two months to set up café in Tanzania. In next six to seven months we should be launching our café in South Africa”, said Rahil.

The company is also planning to raise the capital from the stock markets in next few years. “We may need finances for expansion. Once we will stabilize, we may join the stock markets to raise the capital and become a listed company”, said Rahil.
