The Kashmir issue was discussed in an all-party meet on Friday chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At the all-party meet, PM Modi said, "There cannot be any compromise on national security but we have to win confidence of people in Jammu and Kashmir. PoK is also part of J&K. It's a matter of happiness that all parties have spoken in one voice on J&K. I'm grateful to all political parties for raising concerns with regard to prevailing situation in J&K. Like every Indian, I'm also deeply pained by recent incidents that have taken place in Jammu & Kashmir. We are committed to a stable and peaceful solution to the issue of J&K, we are committed to the welfare of J&K people."
He further added, "Every Kashmiri wants peace and has faith in the democracy. This is why, despite warnings from some separatists elements, people of J&K showed their faith in democratic principles during polls. It is the responsibility of every govt to maintain law and order. There cannot be any compromise on national security."
CPI leader D Raja said, "PM Modi in all party meeting said that Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh and PoK are integral part of India. PM Modi also said that there will be no compromise on our national security and integrity, in all party meet. We have suggested that the Govt must start dialogue process with all stakeholders."
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that former PM Manmohan Singh extended support to the Centre in their endeavour to solve the Kashmir issue.
"Manmohan Singhji said during all party meet that most important thing in regards with J&K is to defuse the present tense and tragic situation. In the last 10 years when we were in office, we made efforts to find practical solution to these problems. Manmohan Singhji also said that we recognise, we didn't fully succeed. It's Government of India's duty to come up with roadmap for defusing the present situation. We assure govt that any positive step in this endeavour (to solve Kashmir issue), you'll have our full co-operation," Azad said.
CPI (M)'s Sitaram Yechury said that the Centre should start the dialogue process with all stakeholders.
"Start the dialogue process with all stakeholders. We've done it in past and we've to do it again. Govt has to take confidence building measures, announce stoppage of pellet guns use, announce AFSPA to be withdrawn from civilian areas. We have given our suggestions. Home Minister Rajnath Singh concluded by saying that all suggestions will be taken on board.
