Even as Bangladesh remains in denial on the source of the deadly bloodshed in Dhaka, the Islamic State group has released a new video of three Bengali speaking fighters from its capital in Raqqa, praising the attack at the Holey Artisan Bakery as 'historical’ and promising a repeat of more such attacks, targeting 'infidels'.
Titled, the 'Knights of Khilafah in Bengal’, the five-minute video was released on Tuesday night on IS media related channels from Wilayat Raqqa. The video appears to have shot a day after attackers killed 20 hostages including 17 foreign nationals at the diplomatic area Gulshan in Dhaka.
“What you witnessed in Bangladesh yesterday was just a glimpse. This will repeat, repeat and repeat until Shariah is established in the rest of the world...’’, says the first fighter dressed in long grey shalwar with a beanie on head and a backpack, speaking in Bengali and English.
Defending the acts of violent jihad taking place in their country, the fighters said such acts are obligatory as the present government has replaced the law of Allah by that of man, and therefore have become 'kafirs’. “How can you support the ‘democracy’ installed by the infidel government,’’ asks the second fighter, with a scarf covering his face.
He adds that the incident (in Dhaka) took place as a revenge against the 'crusader’ coalition who have killed hundreds of innocent men and women through airstrikes in Syria, Iraq and Libya. “We learn from our Prophet that the entire Ummah is like one body, if we are hurt in one part, the pain is felt throughout our body. When the crusaders kill the innocent Muslims the Mujaheedin brothers get hurt. We will kill the crusaders whenever we find them in revenge of their blood.’’
In the previous 18 attacks targeting foreign nationals and minority community members that the IS has claimed, its statements are consistent that the assassinations were revenge against the 'crusaders and infidels'. In the video, the second fighter continues, “You (Dhaka attackers) have created history. May Allah accept your martyrdom.’’
A third fighter, with a burly physique, expresses his delight on the 'spectacular operation'. “What you have done has never been done before. It has created history. We have dreamed that we will do jihad in Afghanistan and Syria, but now jihad has reached yours and my doorstep. Come forward in groups and groups to join the mujahids to establish Shariah in Bangladesh under the Islamic State.’’
