Jharkhand: 8 killed, 2 injured after vehicle falls into river in Dumka

At least eight people were killed and two were seriously injured after a vehicle fell into a river in Jharkhand's Dumka district, on Monday.

The deceased are yet to be identified, while the injured are admitted in Sadar Hospital for treatment. The accident happened on wee hours of Monday. The incident happened near Lagla village on the Bhagalpur -Dumka national highway. The vehicle was carrying newspapers from Bihar's Bhagalpur to Dumka in Jharkhand. 

According to reports, driver lost control of the Jeep and broke railings of railway bridge and fell into a ditch. Eight people died on the spot. Police from the nearby Jama PS went and did the initial rescue work. 

Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das has expressed deep regrets over the accident. He conveyed on Twitter that his officers have rushed to the spot and the injured are being given due treatment. He also urged people to be cautious and follow traffic rules.
