A Jet Airways aircraft, flying to London from Mumbai with 330 passengers and 15 crew on board, was intercepted by two German air force planes on Thursday as it reportedly failed to communicate with the local air traffic controllers.

This is the second case involving Jet Airways in recent years. In April, 2014, during a flight from London to Mumbai, its aircraft had failed to respond to the local air traffic controllers, raising security scare. The investigation in the 2014 case blamed it on the pilot, who had removed the headphone but forgot to adjust the volume of the speakers.

Thursday's incident was first reported in aviation portal, Aviation Herald, which claimed that contact of the aircraft was lost for a brief period while itwas flying over between Bratislava (Slovakia) and Prague (Czech Republic). The initial investigation suspect wrong-tuning of frequency as one of the possible reason for the lost of contact.

The website said that as there was no response from the Boeing 777 aircraft, despite being asked to identify itself, two German Eurofighter Aircraft were dispatched in its direction. The Jet Airways contact was revived at about 60 nautical miles north of Nuremberg, Germany.

The website said that the Jet Aiways flight 9W-118 later continued to London for a safe landing.

Jet Airways, in a statement said that communication was lost in German airspace and safely restored within a few minutes. As a precaution, the German Air Force deployed its aircraft to ensure the safety of the flight and its guests. The flight with 330 guests and 15 crew subsequently landed at London without any untoward incident.

The airline said that it has duly reported the matter to the authorities concerned, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Also, as part of the standard process, the flight crew of 9W 118 has been de-rostered pending investigation.
