After the Indian security forces successfully eliminated more than 135 militants including top commanders of the Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba this year, it seems that Moulana Masood Azhar-led Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) is fast trying to fill the vacuum and become the new face of terrorism in the strife torn Jammu and Kashmir.

According to sources, Pakistani security and intelligence agencies have now reposed faith in JeM to keep the pot boiling. Pakistan has reportedly sent-in fresh groups of highly-motivated militants of JeM into Jammu and Kashmir to replenish the ranks and raise the morale of the cadres.

"I don't think it's resurgence. They resurfaced after a long time… There are two more groups (on the loose). We do not know the exact strength of the two, but they are either in South Kashmir or somewhere on the fringes of Srinagar," said Munir Ahmad Khan, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone.
