Jat agitation: CTET exam postponed in Haryana; schools, colleges shut in Gurgaon

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), held on Sunday, had to be postponed in Haryana due to the ongoing Jat stir that has paralysed the state.

The CTET was held at 973 centers in India and abroad peacefully except in Haryana where its was postponed due to "administrative reasons", CBSE said in a statement.

"In Haryana in the cities Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Panchkula Central Teachers Eligibility Test was postponed, where 71,471 candidates were registered for CTET," P I Sabu, CTET Director said.

7,47,477 candidates had registered for the exam in total. Deputy commissioner of Gurgaon T L Satya Prakash said all schools and educational institutions in Gurgaon will remain closed on Monday in view of the quota agitation.
