One of the accused in the September 7 Delhi high court blast case Abid Hussain Bhawani is taking a shot at examinations to salvage his academic career. Abid is appearing for the class XI exams scheduled to start by the end of the month.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) had arrested Abid along with two others for sending an e-mail from a cyber cafe in Kishtwar district of Jammu, claiming responsibility for the blast. He was arrested by NIA in September and shifted to Delhi subsequently.

Sources said the J&K Board of School Education is holding his exam from February 23 at an undisclosed centre. “We are making arrangements for a special examination for him since the final examination of class XI is already over. The proposed date has been already announced,” an official said.

Sources said the Juvenile board has allowed him to sit in the examinations. “The board has reportedly granted him bail. He is being brought back to the state,” an official said.

According to sources, Abid had petitioned the Juvenile Justice Board in Delhi for his release and pleaded that he be allowed to sit for the exams.
