J-K: BSF jawan, 3 Army soldiers, 3 civilians killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan

In Baramulla district, three army men were killed in action while BSF personnel also lost his life in the Naugam sector in the Kupwara district.

Three Indian Army soldiers, a Border Security force personnel and three civilians including a woman have been killed while three army men have been injured in multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Army said that an infiltration bid was foiled in the Keran sector following which the Pakistan army resorted to ceasefire violation in multiple sectors in north Kashmir.

“Pakistan initiated unprovoked Ceasefire Violation along the LoC spread across multiple sectors to include Dawar, Keran, Uri & Naugam. Pakistan used Mortars & other weapons. Pakistan deliberately targeted civilian areas,” Rajesh Kalia, Srinagar based Army PRO said.

In Baramulla district, three army men were killed in action while BSF personnel also lost his life in the Naugam sector in the Kupwara district.

“Own troops retaliated strongly causing substantial damage to Pakistan Army's infrastructure and casualties across the LoC. Several ammunition dumps, FOL dumps and multiple terrorist launch pads have been damaged,” he said.

At least 12 civilians have been injured who are being treated at different hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir.

Three were killed in Baramulla district which included a woman while five civilians were hurt in the Gurez sector of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district following which some residents have taken refuge in underground bunkers.

In Poonch district of Jammu division, five civilians including a middle-aged woman and two porters have been injured in Pakistan shelling in the sawjian sector in Poonch district. A shell landed near the Sawjian bus stand resulting in injuries to three.

BSF said that Sub Inspector Rakesh Dobhal sustained a head injury at about 1220 hours while on duty at FDL and succumbed to his injury at about  1315.

The exchange of fire between the two armies was on when this report was filed.
