ISIS Module Case: NIA raids two locations in Tamil Nadu

The devices seized will be subjected to forensic examination and submitted to NIA special court.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at the houses of two accused persons in Thanjavur and Tiruchirapalli districts in connection with Tamil Nadu-Kerala ISIS module case on Saturday.

The raids were conducted by the investigation agency on the basis of warrants issued by the NIA Special Court.

The houses of Alavudeen from Thanjavur and S Sarfudeen from Tiruchirapalli were searched and the investigation agency procured digital devices including two laptops, six mobile phones, eleven SIM cards, one pen drive, one hard disc, one memory card, five CDs and DVDs. Apart from this, seventeen documents were also seized.

The devices seized will be subjected to forensic examination and submitted to NIA special court.

A case was registered against six persons in connection with the ISIS module case in May, where they were accused of spreading the ideology of the Islamic State on Social Media, and were responsible for recruiting impressionable youths in the terror outfit to carry out attacks in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Subsequently, the NIA conducted searches at the houses of all the six accused, and arrested two persons, Mohammed Azarudheen and Shiek Hidayathulla, on the basis of incriminating evidence.
