Former Gujarat Intelligence chief RB Sreekumar on Wednesday slammed RVS. Mani over his claims that he was pressurized to file the second affidavit in the Supreme Court in the Ishrat Jahan case and demanded perjury case against the former undersecretary and former home minister P Chidambaram. "It is a shame on Mr. Mani. It is purely for his career interests and selfish interests against the interest of the rule of law, principles of the constitution, he made an amendment of the affidavit then and he is revealing it now," he said.
When asked that Mani is claiming to have been pressurised to sign the second affidavit, he said, "Tomorrow the minister will ask you to get something? will you do it? Service rules never say that you can violate the Constitution of India. We cannot go against truth."
He said that India was passing through a dark phase as the politicians were making use of security matters for political gains. "This is false defence that any corrupt officer takes. Corruption is not by money, corruption is also dishonest action. This person should be prosecuted under 193 IPC, which is for perjury, including Chidambaram. Does Rajnath Singh have guts? They want to gain political capital out of the whole thing," he said.

Mani has alleged that the changes in the second Ishrat Jahan affidavit were made at the political level by the then UPA government and that he was 'tortured; to sign it.
His claims came days after the former home secretary G.K. Pillai alleged that Chidambaram as the country's home minister during the UPA regime 'bypassed him' and rewrote an affidavit submitted to a court on Ishrat Jehan, the 19-year-old student killed in an encounter in 2004.
Chidambaram earlier on Monday said the revised affidavit was absolutely correct, adding he accepts full responsibility for the affidavit as a minister.
