Giving a befitting reply to their disability, these girls suffering from cerebral palsy have worked hard to light up our homes this Diwali with beautiful earthen lamps using ceramic art.

Cerebral Palsy students of Utakarsh Samiti in Indore have made beautiful earthen lamps of different shapes and colours which they intend to sell to public.

However, these young girls have a few takers for their product.

"There are around 500 earthen lamps which our girl students have prepared but they are waiting for it to be sold," said Utakarsh Samiti founder Madhavi Koparkar.

"Each lamp costs Rs 7-8 to us and our students sell it for Rs 10 each," she added.

However, these students are happy to create such beautiful lamps and are not much bothered by shelves of their storeroom full of articles prepared by them.

"I feel very happy to make these lamps, these look very beautiful," said lamp maker and student at the Samiti, Aparna Supner.

Private institutions and schools claimed that they would be happy to help out the organisation by offering them space to sell their products in their premises.

“We will be extremely happy to help these girls and they should approach us soon as there are lesser days left for Diwali," said Prestige School principal Prakash Chaudhary.

The students are specially trained in arts for decorating the earthen lamps and making it different from those available in the market.
