With poll activities picking up the pace, political leaders have started increasing their presence in the virtual world too to propagate their campaigns and promote themselves.

Taking the lead on the social networking site Facebook is the chief minister himself. Be it talking about his government's achievements, interacting with voters or posting information about his upcoming campaigns, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has his Facebook page fully loaded. Photographs of meetings and rallies, comments from readers, future plans of the government, etc all find a place there. Following Chouhan in terms of 'virtual social presence' is MLA from Rau, Jeetu Jirati.
His activities are updated on hourly basis on his Facebook and Twitter accounts. Once an active blogger, Jirati however doesn't have any entry on his official blog since 2011.

Jirati makes it a point to send wishes to people on all occasions through his Facebook page. And there is more to come on his page as he has put up a message there: "Reconstructing Facebook page to be more active on it". Industry and Commerce minister Kailash Vijayvargiya not only promotes himself and fellow party leaders through his social media platform, he also uses the medium to take dig at his opponents.

Not to be left behind, MLA from Indore 1 constituency Sudarshan Gupta too has increased his activity on Facebook. In last three months, he had posted hardly five comments but in this month, he has till now posted six comments alone to promote his party's campaign.

While some leader are hyperactive on this social media platform, there are some who are just 'sleepers,' hardly seen using the social media for their political or personal campaigning. These include Ramesh Mendola who is mostly tagged by his party workers on his Facebook page, Malini Gaur who always makes it a point to post her comments at the backdrop of her party poster.
