Indore: Navy plays key role in security of maritime trade

Vice Admiral Satish Soni, flag officer commanding-in-chief, Southern Naval Command addressed the faculty and the student officers of the prestigious Higher Command and Senior Command Courses at the Army War College Mhow on Wednesday.

He addressed the officers on key national security issues especially in the maritime domain and futuristic plans of the Indian Navy.

He explained the key role which the Indian Navy plays in the Indian Ocean Region. He also dwelt at length on the opportunities and challenges which are likely to emerge in the future as India maintains a steady economic growth and emerges as a key regional player. He also touched upon India’s maritime heritage and how the pivotal role is being played by the Indian Navy for security of India’s maritime trade.

The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief was earlier received by The Commandant of the Army war College Lt Gen Sandeep Singh on arrival at the Army War College. The Admiral has been the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff earlier and served in the key departments of “Plans” and “Personnel” in the Naval Headquarters.
