After a 15-month-long major upgrade at the Cochin Shipyard, INS Cheetah returned to the Andaman and Nicobar Command, officials said. The LST(M) class of ship underwent extensive repair work and major modifications of equipment and machineries onboard.

Commissioned in 1984, it was the first in its class of ships to be upgraded to include an enclosed bridge, officials said. The ship has been completely upgraded with modular accommodation for all officers and sailors onboard.
