Indian Foreign Service officer hangs self to death

An Indian Foreign Service officer serving in the Ministery of External Officer committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling on Sunday evening.

Prabhash Das (42), native of Bihar was found dead by his driver on Sunday evening when he came to handover the keys of his car. Police didn't find any suicide from the spot.

Prabhash, who was recently posted in Dubai consulate, took this extreme step on Sunday evening when all other members of family had gone out. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Soon after the driver discovered his body hanging from the ceiling, he shouted and called neighbours. Later police took him to hospital where he was declared brought dead.

"As of now the cause of him taking this extreme step is not certain. Since we haven't found in suicide note, we are investigating this case from all possible angles. Till now we have questioned the driver who saw the body first and members of his family," said a police official.

Police has also questioned neighbours to know whether Das' family life was going well or not. "The investigation is on. As of now nothing can be said about the cause of him committing suicide," added officer.
Das, a B grade officer of Indian Foreign Service, was a native of Bihar and had joined the service in 1991. He had been living in Dwarka for the past six years. He is survived by his wife and two sons who study in school.
