A simple idea goes a long way — There could not be a better way to describe this initiative by a website called www.21fools.com.

As India celebrates her 67th Independence Day on Thursday, the team of www.21fools.com has come up with an idea to convey our gratitude to the soldiers who brave harsh weather conditions to safeguard our freedom.

A-year-old, the initiative aims to connect people with the Indian Army.

Divyanshu Asopa, founder of the website, says, "It was a spur-of-the-moment thing. The idea came to me while watching a film at a cinema hall in Mumbai. I stood up for the National Anthem. It was beautifully shot in Siachen and at that moment I decided that we will send greeting cards to the soldiers who protect us in harsh conditions."

Last year, the team members approached the Indian Army Headquarters for approval and after a month of efforts they were given permission to send greeting cards to five headquarters –  Jaipur, Udhampur, Lucknow, Kolkata and Pune.

Through our website, we try to motivate people to convey their gratitude to the soldiers, Divyanshu added.

Last year it was only greeting cards that were sent, but this year, people can send both greetings and rakhis to the soldiers.

While the idea attracted many to the initiatve, it also raised a few doubts.

The website team was flooded with questions like 'will my card reach the soldiers or will you just run away with our money?', 'how will I come to know if the card has reached or not?'.

But with consistent efforts, the website was able to send 1,670 greeting cards.

While the cards were priced at Rs50, the website has slashed the prices drastically to encourage people to participate in this initiative.

All one has to do is log on to www.21fools.com and buy card/cards for a nominal price.

"Around August 18-19, the chosen cards witll be printed and names of the senders will be handwritten on the cards to give it a personal touch. The cards will then be sent to five Army headquarters — Jaipur, Udhampur, Lucknow, Kolkata and Pune," Divyanshu adds.

The Indian Army will then distribute the cards and rakhis among the soldiers in border areas.
