Apart from the big cat, rare birds, wolves are being brought from Venkateshwar Zoological Park in Tirupati.
The lone white tigress at Jaipur zoo will soon get a partner from Venkateshwar Zoological Park, Tirupati.
The park has also dispatched an alligator and a pair of wolves, said Jaipur Zoo sources.
The five-member team from Tirupati will be reaching Jaipur in a few days with the white tiger, besides rare species of birds from Andhra Pradesh.
This would be the first-ever white tiger couple in the state, which will expectedly be available for public viewing at the zoo within three weeks.
The white tiger is a rare pigmentation variant of the Royal Bengal Tiger. It is a critically endangered species as just 50 such big cats are left in the country.
Further, the team would bring 13 birds from several species including Fowl, Cockatiel and Lutino. Lutino are also known as lovebirds.
Special arrangements have been made to ensure that the animals feel comfortable during their 2,300-km-long journey via road.
For this, the administration has come up with special cages with adequate lighting and ventilation for the beautiful creatures.
The five-member team comprises Dr Arvind Mathur, veterinary doctor, Bhairu Ram, forest officer, Namiuddin, caretaker, Om Prakash, cattle guard and Kailash Rana.
Touted as one of the most vibrant zoological parks in India, Jaipur Zoo mooted the proposal of getting a white tiger a couple of months back after the albino tigress “Reshma” unfortunately died on October 21, 2012. Reshma was over 23 years old.
The Jaipur Zoo is visited by almost 10 lakh people every year. It also has a rare white peacock and a black panther, besides five big cats.
