With the Maharashtra state assembly elections just a few hours away from now, seems like all gloves are off between the two estranged allies, BJP and Shiv Sena. In a last-ditch attempt to drum up support for Shiv Sena, Uddhav Thackeray has given an interview in the party mouthpiece Saamna. He has thrown the gauntlet at PM Narendra Modi by calling him chaiwallah - like Mani Shankar Aiyar did before the Lok Sabha elections, to fatal consequence for the Congress.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has expressed full confidence that his party will come to power saying, "If the tea seller can become the Prime Minister, I can become the Chief Minister too. The interview taken by Sanjay Raut, executive editor of the party's mouth piece Saamna will appear in Wednesday's edition, but already official communication channels of the Sena are circulating the most aggressive part of the interview via whatsapp, in a bid to ostensibly drum up support in the eleventh hour.

Bhartiya Janta Party and Shiv Sena had broken their 25-year old alliance over the issue of seat sharing on September 25, just two days before filing the nominations. After this, Thackeray had also severely criticised BJP and Narendra Modi. He had launched a scathing attack on Modi saying that while Pakistan is violating the ceasefire, our PM is busy campaigning for the assembly polls. He even called Narendra Modi's campaign tactics as similar to that run by Afzal Khan.

He stated that the break-up of the Sena-BJP alliance, which saw success and failure in the last 25 years had saddened him, but he was still satisfied that he did not bend before anyone. Thackeray, in the interview has answered many questions that have been on the mind of Shiv Sainiks. Will Uddhav Thackeray's ploy of going out against Modi result in brightening the fortune of the Sena or will it backfire? This is anybody's guess, but on the eve of the election, Uddhav has certainly stirred the hornet's nest by calling Modi a chaiwallah
