ICSE and ISC results declared; girls outshine boys

Girls have once again outshone boys both in class X (ICSE) and class XII (ISC) examinations, results of which were declared on Monday.

Girls have once again outshone boys both in class X (ICSE) and class XII (ISC) examinations, results of which were declared on Monday.

The pass percentage in class X Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination stood at 98.49% and 96.28% in class XII Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination.

The examinations are conducted by Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).

While girls did marginally better in class X examination with a pass percentage of 98.95 per cent as opposed to 98.12 per cent in case of boys, they did far better than boys in class XII with the difference in pass percentage being over two per cent.

The pass percentage of girls stood at 97.49 per cent as compared to 95.27 per cent in case of boys. Last year too, the girls had fared better than boys in both class X and class XII.

In the class X examination this year, the top position was shared by three students - Sougata Chowdhury from Kolkata, Ananya Harshad Patwardhan and Tezan Papan Sahu from Mumbai. They scored 99.20 per cent.

The second position was bagged by three students scoring 99 per cent and the third place by 11 students securing 98.80 per cent

Likewise, in the class XII examination, the pole position was bagged by Arkya Chatterjee from Kolkata who scored 99.75 per cent. The second position was taken by four students with a score of 99.50 per cent and the third place by 13 students who scored 99.25 per cent.

"The toppers in both class X and class XII have broken the record of the last five years with the percentage secured this year," said chief executive officer of CISCE Gerry Arathoon.
In terms of region wise performance, Southern region recorded the highest pass percentage in both the classes. The pass percentage in class X stood at 99.66 per cent and in class XII it was 99.08 per cent.
