Facing criticism for his alleged meetings with representatives of companies facing CBI probe, agency's chief Ranjit Sinha on Friday avoided making any comment saying he was already "under fire" from all sides.

When asked for his reaction about purported entry register of his residence which carried details of his alleged meetings with representatives of people and companies facing agency probe, a visibly peeved Sinha refused to make any comment.

"I am already under fire from all sides," Sinha said. When grilled further by mediapersons, CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad, who was accompanying him, said, "I would request media must respect his privacy matters as well." Prasad had earlier denied existence of any such entry register being maintained at the official residence of its director but a formal statement issued by her did not carry any such specific denial.

The diary entries being reported carry sensational mention about Sinha's alleged meetings with representatives of companies and persons who are facing agency probe at his residence.

The issue of entry register was raised by NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL), one of the PIL petitioners on whose plea 122 licences for 2G spectrum were cancelled by the apex court.
