A gang of chain-snatchers attacked 12 women in just three hours on Tuesday, in some posh areas of Hyderabad. They made away with 350 grams of gold.
According to Deccan Chronicle, the police suspect it was a gang from Maharashtra that was responsible for the incidents. They are allegedly using fake number plates and stolen bikes to do the crime. The report states that the gang struck twice in less than five minutes at Filmnagar in Jubilee Hills.
One of the victims is K Saraswathi, 66, a relative of former minister Mandava Venkateswara Rao. When she had gone to the temple in the morning, the men made away with her 50 g gold chain as she was waiting for her car. Then the gang attacked another women just 300 metres from her.
The members of the gang reportedly wear helmets and cover their faces with handkerchiefs while committing the crime.
