Highway to IIT: JEE topper gets BMW from Rajasthan coaching institute

Topper of  IIT-Joint Entrance Exam (Advanced), Tanmaya Shekhawat, who secured 11th position in the coveted list has been gifted a shining BMW sedan by a coaching institute in Rajasthan.

The vehicle which is worth Rs 27.5 lakhs was originally bought by the director of Samarpan coaching institute, Dr RL Poonia. The luxury car is in an excellent condition and has travelled 1,500 kms since it was bought.

Tanmaya who was clearly elated said, "The director (of the institute) had announced that whoever achieves a rank under 20 in the IIT-JEE Advanced, will get his BMW. He kept his promise," Hindustan Times reported.

Many coaching institutes dole out gifts and rewards for the toppers but this is the first time such an expensive vehicle has been given as a gift to a topper. According to industry experts, the gift can also be a clever marketing ploy to advertise the coaching institute.
