It has been a harrowing 36 hours for Snapdeal employee Dipti Sarna who went missing while travelling in a share auto in Gurgaon at 8:30 pm on Wednesday. Dipti’s ordeal ended when she finally called her dad Narendra Sarna. Her father told NDTV that she was abducted at gunpoint by four ‘beginners’ but that she didn’t want to press charges. He was quoted as saying: “They blindfolded her and dropped her at some railway station at 3 or 4 am... (they) didn't harm her in any way and they even gave her food on time.”

Narendra said that one of Dipti’s friends called him and said something had happened to her. He added, “Dipti’s friend said that something had happened to her. They were talking on the phone when he heard her scream and the call got disconnected. He asked me to look for her.”

Her father said that the kidnappers got scared when they heard about the massive manhunt organised for her and let her go because they were ‘beginners’.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the Ghaziabad senior SP Dharmendra Singh said that Dipti was arrested by four ‘illiterate and local goons' who got scared after hearing about the massive manhunt and media coverage. The report said that Dipti took an auto from the metro station but it broke down halfway through the journey at Mohan Nagar. This led to most of the passengers getting off. However, one girl along with Dipti remained on board. Four men forced the other woman to get off at knifepoint near Hindon river. The men then snatched her bag and mobile phone and drove her to a secluded area in Raj Nagar extension. The men didn’t risk stopping anywhere. Singh told HT: “They travelled with Dipti the entire night, sometimes in an i10 car, sometimes on a bike. They made Dipti walk around 10 kilometres.”

They travelled all the way to Panipat in Haryana where the men brought her to a station and made her board a Delhi-bound train. They didn’t physically hurt her. They also gave her some money. Dipti has refused to undergo a medical test and is refusing to press charges against her kidnappers.

Meanwhile, Snapdeal thanked everyone for their efforts in helping locate Dipti. Their official handle tweeted: "Our statement today, The entire Snapdeal family is thrilled that our friend, Dipti Sarna has been reunited with her family. We're grateful to the Honorable @CMOfficeUP, the UP Police & members of media who helped us during this difficult hour. We'd like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported the search efforts by sharing details on social media. We are humbled by your love and support."
