Though it has been two days since the results of local body polls in Gujarat were declared, the State Election Commission on Friday refused to divulge details of the vote shares of the parties.

"SEC is not bound to share all the details with everyone. We can't give all the information. We have shared some figures on our website. Other than that nothing more would be released from our side," State Election Commissioner Varesh Sinha told PTI when asked about vote-shares and 'none of the above' votes.

As per the final results, BJP won just 60 out of the total 230 taluka panchayats, while Congress made an impressive comeback by capturing 124 taluka panchayats. 46 taluka bodies had a hung verdict. Of the 31 district panchayats, Congress won 21, BJP won six, while in four others no party emerged as a clear winner as the many independents won. The BJP had won 30 district panchayats in 2010.

The BJP however retained the control of all the six municipal corporations and also won 40 out of the 56 municipalities. Congress won in nine municipalities, while in three municipalities independents were winners. No party emerged as a clear winner in four others.
