Gujarat Elections 2017 | PM Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Hardik Patel denied roadshow permission by Ahmedabad Police

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and influential Patidaar leader Hardik Patel have been denied permission for their roadshows by the Ahmedabad Police.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and influential Patidaar leader Hardik Patel have been denied permission for their roadshows by the Ahmedabad Police.

Police Commissioner AK Singh on Monday refused to give permission to the political bigwigs as he felt that its would be difficult for the cops to manage traffic during the roadshows.

Citing law and order, the police said that the roadshows would cause inconvenience to the public.

"All the roadshows permissions have been denied by us, as it would have brought issues of public convenience and also on bases of security and law and order, as both the request have overlapped and time clashes as well. We have brought it to the organisers regarding our inability to cope up with that, because their is a election commissions guideline on roadshows and the guidelines are highly in favour of public convenience," Singh said. 

The route which were proposed for the roadshows it was passing through crowed area, busy markets, Railway stations, Bus stands, Wall city and inside the wall lenght and bylenght of the wall city. It would have required a disprotion deployement of police to the manage  the roadshows, if it was give permission.

The roadshow of PM Modi and Gandhi were going to happen on December 12, while on December 11 morning the Hardik Patel was planning to have a 52km long road show which was to be start in the morning and end up in the evening and end to a Public meeting in Nikol.

The public meeting was given permission, but the roadshow was not. Apart from that he was allowed to move in his small convey of four to five vehicle in the routes and their will be some intermidiate points of welcome.

The roadshows were part of the election campaign for the second and the last phase of the Gujarat Assembly Elections.

The BJP said that PM Modi will address Vikas rallies in Patan, Nadiad and at Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad on Monday, a day before campaigning for the December 14 polls ends.

According to Congress, party vice-president Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address public meetings at Tharad, Viramgam, Vadodara and Gandhinagar on Monday. The Congress had performed very well in central and north Gujarat in 2012 elections, and is eyeing a better haul in these elections.

BJP president Amit Shah is slated to address rallies in Vav, Anklav, Borsad and Dabhoi.

Among other BJP campaigners, chief minister Vijay Rupani, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, union minister Parshottam Rupala and state BJP president Jitu Vaghani are also slated to address rallies and meets in different parts of central and north Gujarat.

The second phase of the elections in PM Modi's home state would see polling for remaining 93 seats on December 14.

Earlier on December 9, over 2 crore Gujaratis cast their votes for candidates contesting 89 Assembly constituencies.

There were more than 900 candidates in the fray.

The result of the crucial state polls would be declared on December 18.
