Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday took a direct dig at newly appointed Congress President Rahul Gandhi after the assembly elections verdict in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

"Won't say anything now as he has recently been made party president, 'sar mundwate hi ole pade' (Abhi toh kuch nahi bolunga kyunki woh haal hi mein adhyaksh bane hain lekin)," Rajnath Singh told ANI.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to form a government in the state of Gujarat for the sixth time and wrest power from Congress in Himachal Pradesh.

However, Rahul Gandhi on Monday said he is not disappointed with the party's loss in the state assembly elections.

According to ABP News, the Congress President reportedly made the statement while interacting with party MPs inside Parliament in New Delhi.

Rahul Gandhi had personally spearheaded the Congress’ campaign in Gujarat, which is home to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah. He raised issues such as lack of jobs, Goods and Service Tax, and Demonetization. The Congress President, however, did not focus his energy on the Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh.
