The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) not scoring even a century in the Gujarat polls has made the party realise that they seriously need to stop Hardik Patel and Alpesh Thakor from denting the BJP's vote bank. The party is now searching for antidotes of these two community leaders. Sources from the saffron brigade revealed that the top brass in the state is finding personalities who can take on Patel and Thakor before the Lok Sabha polls.

A very senior leader from the party said, "The party has been trying hard to keep the flock of our committed voters together and analysing the last assembly polls. It is necessary to prepare options or antidote kind of mechanism against Patel and Thakor. These two community leaders can drag the voters towards the Congress again, could succeed in state polls and stop them from making more damage. We have been searching for the personality or mechanism that would act like an antidote to these two."

Despite repeated attempts, neither Patel nor Thakor could be reached for their comments on the issue.

The saffron party leader added that the recent business summit by the Patidar community was part of the strategy but the BJP needs a youthful face that would counter Patel. It may be mentioned here that many of Patel's former colleagues joined the BJP. "But we think they would not make that impact and we are searching for some fresh face that can convince the Patel community that went against BJP in the past few years to come back," the BJP leader said.

The BJP believes that as far as the Thakor community is concerned, Thakor Vikas Sangh and Jugalji Thakor Lokhandvala are going to pose a big challenge to Thakor in North Gujarat. "The party expects good results in the last few days as many of the workers and members of Thakor's Thakor Sena joined this new outfit," said the BJP leader.

The BJP's core committee of state unit is going to meet at the CM's residence on Wednesday to discuss the issue. The leader added that playing victim over the issue of abuse by Congress MLA Virji Thumar to BJP chief Jitu Vaghani was the part of the same strategy as the incident happened in the Maha Panchayat programme patroned by Patel himself.
