Amid uproar over spate of sexual crimes against minors in the country, a woman was allegedly raped in Greater Noida on Friday.

The woman had booked the cab from Sector 126 in Greater Noida to Surajpur.

According to Nishant Kumar, Circle Officer Bisrakh, there was another man in the cab when the victim boarded the car.

After some time, the woman was offered soft drink by the driver.

Somewhere near Daya Nagar, around 8:30 pm, the driver parked the cab and left.

His friend Pravin and the woman tried contacting the driver but he didn’t return.

Then Pravin took the woman to a nearby forest and allegedly raped her.

Around midnight, the woman managed to flee the spot. She called at 100 and the police rescued her.

The local police has filed a case after the incident. Around 5 people have also been detained by the cops.

In a similar case of victim being offered a spiked cold drink, a teenager was raped by boyfriend of her aunt in outer Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy area.

The 13-year-old victim was allegedly lured by her aunt to have spiked soft drink. Soon, the teenager lost consciousness and was raped by her aunt’s boyfriend.

The father of the child saw her bleeding and took her to nearby Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital where the doctors told the man about the sexual assault.

While the woman has been arrested, the rapist is still on the run.

Both the woman and her boyfriend were booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by intoxicating substance with intent to commit an offence), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120B (criminal conspiracy). They have also been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Earlier this week, the  Modi government brought an ordinance to hang child rapists in the country.
