Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh on Saturday said that Governor's rule has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir till a new Chief Minister is sworn-in. "For now Governor's rule has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir," Singh told reporters here.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister's post was left vacant after the incumbent Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away due to multiple organ failure. The People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday had said that it would take at least four days for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister.

According to reports, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti is reluctant to take oath as the first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir before Chaharum of her father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. The PDP leaders met Governor NN Vohra earlier to assure him about the continuation of the government under Mehbooba's leadership.
