Congress leader Manish Tewari on Saturday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre just talks about development and does not take any effective steps in this regard.

"Here is the Prime Minister who keeps talking about development, you cannot talk of development all the time for that you have to do development which this government has not done," Tewari said.

"In the past six months, the economy of the country has deflated as never before, rural wages are at their lowest, there is no economic activity in the urban areas and people are losing their livelihood," he added.

Meanwhile, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Arvinder Singh Lovely accused both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of betraying the people of Delhi.

"People of Delhi are feeling betrayed by both the parties. The Prime Minister has assured that there will be 24 hours of electricity. There was always 24 hours of power supply, it was only during the BJP regime that there is power cut in Delhi for five to six hours," said Lovely.

"I don't know what message he wants to give. As the Prime Minister, it is his duty that Delhi gets water. If he is really serious, why is he waiting for the polls? He should interfere and Delhi should get water from Haryana immediately. Both the parties, one promises 50 percent reduction in power tariff and BJP promises 30 percent reduction in power tariff, nothing has been done in that direction," he added.

Lovely further alleged that the BJP is promoting AAP because they want to divide the vote percentage of the Congress.

"They are the two sides of the same coin. And this is a deliberate move and this is the Gujarat model. They want to tell those sources which always vote for secular front. They are promoting AAP because they want to divide the vote percentage of Congress party and that is their tactic and this is the Gujarat model," he said.
